Known worldwide as the capital of the great white shark, Gansbaai offers the best boat and shore based whale watching as well as shark surface viewing and shark diving.

Gansbaai and the surrounding area offers the visitor much to see and do. The quaint fishing village has two working harbours, where local restaurants buy fresh fish daily. There are a number of small bays around Gansbaai, and kilometres of unspoilt beaches. Explore the rugged coastline with numerous caves, coastal fynbos and long white beaches.

- Hiking trails including the Duiwelsgat hiking trail from Gansbaai to De Kelders (7km) which runs along the cliffs. There are many interesting trails in the surrounding area.
- Explore Klipgat Cave, where excavations have revealed archaelogical deposits left by Middle Stone Age people about 85 million years ago and by the Khoisan (Later Stone Age) about 2000 years ago.
